This is what being 17 and 9,450 dollars worth of damage looks like

Ive been on the forum ever since i got my 1st 4runner(also my 1st automobile)which was March 8th. On March 24th i was hit by a suburban at 65 mph when i was trying to pull across 2 lanes of traffic into the middle turning lane to eventially go eastbound. I had to stop with the rear of my 4runner partially out of the lane when another person tried to do the same thing i was doing to go westbound from the other side. The subruban hit me and tried to swerve, when he did swerve he lost control and his truck went into a 15 foot drainage ditch(airbags deployed and the engine of their truck was in the front seat). Not one of the 4 people on the suburban or the 2 people in My 4runner were injured thankfully and we all walked away.
No I dont want anybody to tell me how stupid I was for trying to pull across my parents have done that enough. And I am a much more cautions driver now. If i had waited one second longer and he had hit me on my door I would be dead. I just wanted you guys to know how safe this car is in an accident. Also i ot the ticket because in the great state of texas if i get hit while trying to cross its my fault even though i was completely stopped. $165 dollar ticket and a defensive driving course.

Wow, I've never had to scroll across the screen to read everything, must just be b/c of the size of the pics.

Man that's too bad, glad everyone is alright.

I'm glad that everyone was ok. It sounds like it ended up being a pretty bad accident. I think those are the biggest pics I've ever seen.

Hey Mods,
Do you guys think one of you could resize those pics or something? I'm on a cable modem and they still haven't loaded after 5 minutes.

i didnt do that bad after it all

I actually did pretty good after State farm totalled the truck. I paid 9k and they gave me 12k for it. I ended up buying a nicer 4runner with 4wd and i am very happy with my new 4runner. I am also a much more cautious driver too.

to bad it was only 2wd

It was only 2wd but there was no mechanical damage and i think i could have bought it back from the insurance for ten percent its value. Too bad it long gone now. Also it would have driven funny i think the frame and the floor were bent.

Sorry to hear about your accident.

I edited your post as your pics were 3.50 mb each, and were even taking a long time with cable here.
Also the pic size was 1818x1128.
We ask that posters please keep pics to no bigger than 800x600, and less than 100k or so when the pics are viewed in line in a post.

There are many on here with dialup, and the 3 pics alone would take 30 minutes to load with a 56k modem, and also you need a 42" wide screen to see the pics without scrolling.

No problemo.
When you have huge pics like that, just put in the link, then we can click on them.

Try www.tucows.com
You can get free shareware there for pics, and resize them with those programs.

Hey that reminds me of this massive accident where a mail box accelerated and rammed this guys 4Runner tearing the poor defensless mirror off. It was so tragic how the mirror just laughed at the 4Runner. The owner had a lil talk with the property owner where the mail box is usually parked off of the road. The owner laughed it off to as the 4Runner drove home in pain. I forget who's black 4Runner from Texas it belonged to.

I wish the SOB that ran the red light and plowed my first 2nd gen would have at least recieved a ticket. I'm sorry to hear about the mishap. It looks like everything turned out though.

I remember when I was a little kid (4 or 5 or so...) my Dad and I were driving around town going to Lowe's or something and there was a stoplight at this HUGE intersection...a semi came barreling down...apparenly his brakes were out or he was a little but he NAILED this Dodge Ram 3500 and the whole bed of the truck got ripped off and flew across 3 lanes of traffic hitting this brand new RV. The Dodge kept going for about 200 feet or so and finally came to a stop with sparks trailing behind it. I will never forget that. Everybody was OK though...it didn't hurt the 18-wheeler one BIT!

So dijjid you are very lucky that...like you said, he didn't hit your door head on and you're also lucky that it didn't do more damage and that the machine, even though it was a Suburban, wasn't bigger!

Anyway, I don't know why I felt like jabbering...but atleast we all learned a valuable lesson...do an engine swap AS SOON AS YOU CAN and put a big ole 5.7 liter in there so you can BEAT those 65 mph Suburbans flying down the highway

Where in Houston did it happen? I think I might have actually seen this in person just after the accident occurred.
