Was the sas done with a kit or all custom fab by the owner?also ask about any rusty spots? what the km or miles on the engine are? and if any engine work has bin done to it lately?

 

Engine has 5k miles on rebuild. sorry not familiar with SAS, whats it mean? no aftermarket in the engine. havent asked bout rust spots but ill look all over 2moro. as far as the lift and gears go what do ya think?

 

u need to look at the sas setup see if its a kit or home made look at the welds look for good penetration 5.29 r good but why didnt he lock it.sas is (solid axle swap).get reciepts for the work thats been done.

O i see. so what would be some things that would mean the SAS was a crappy job? what does it mean that its open?

 

Open front and rear means open differentials. This means that if you start to lose traction, all the power is sent to that wheel. It's friendly for everyday driving on pavement but not good for when you are on the trail.

Yeah, a 4cyl on 35's... You will not go very fast. 60 tops is my guess.
I wouldn't buy it for that price. You could find something better.

You do not need all that if you do not even know what an SAS is. Stick with stock buddy.

 

What do you want the rig for? Actual offroading or look? I think a stock IFS (independent front suspension) with an aftermarket rear locking differential and good tires will be cheaper and more capable.

youre not going to win any drag races, thats for sure! it will get you around on the street and you will have some fun off road with it. hook up with some members nearby and get some seat time. they can help you figure out what you will eventually do with and to the truck.

You say you're in the Boonies in Northern California? Where exactly are you? If you actually live in the woods then that truck will be great for you. If not I 'd go with a stock IFS rig.

 

Is it right for you? No it's not. The price is to high for one thing....well that's the only thing other than no one in the world can tell you what's right for you. You may be better off with a Subaru wagon, only you can know that.

 

Well even if i told ya where i live ya couldnt find it on a map bout an hour out dirt road and hour 15 from nearest town. we got a lotta land, woods, meadows, hills, rocks, etc... i like the ruck but im also lookin at another but kinda worried bout gas mileage...its a 3.0 litre v6. what kinda mileage would i be lookin at with 109k miles on it?

 

That all depends on tire size, gearing, etc. A stock pickup would probably get around 18-20 mpg. Check into maintenance on it. Those engines are well known for blowing head gaskets. Search for more information on them.
BTW, the 85-86 truck looks like it could have been the target of a lot of jerry rigging. I'd definitely want to drive it and see how it does before I bought it. And I definetly wouldn't pay 4500 for it. Probably closer to half of that or less.

Yeah, more than likely you won't be getting that great of gas mileage. Probably closer to 12-15. If you regear it, you could probably get better mileage. BTW, are all trucks in your area that much higher in price? I'm not very familiar with the market out there, but that seems like a lot of money for something like that.
