Thanks guys, it's fixed

I put the finishing touches on the 22re this afternoon and she runs damn good. I just wanted to say thanks to all of you that helped.

Well T it's a long story But I'll bet you have time to read.

I bought this little 86 SR5 for a work truck and divorce vehicle that I'm not making monthly payments on. So after a 2500$ drop into a rough running clean rig I began the upgrade and upkeep process.

230$ to a local shop for wires, plugs, cap, rotor, diganostic check (BS) and a compression check. I won't be going back there ever.

On my end I worked on replacing the O2 sensor, belts, hoses, radiator, etc..... and it still ran like crap. So I found an intake leake and replaced both gaskets, broke the EGR in the process and had to have an elimination plate built, adjusted and metered the TPS, metered the AFM, fiddled with the Dash Pot, adjusted the valves, timed it about a hundred times and redid the compression check along with replacing one injector with a new one (that I didn't need) and putting the old one in a different spot when another one went out. At the end of the day I have a great running little 22re that I'm proud of and I've learned that I can pull the intake off in less than 4 minutes if I need to.

Next is gears and lockers to manage the tires I'm planning on and then it's all camping mods.

What shop did you take it to? I just want to know in case I ever need to avoid them.

I took it to Toyomasters. Every other time I've been in there with the wife's Avalon or my 4runner things have been great. Of course there isn't any diagnostic on an oil change......... They just really really dropped the ball on this one and if you can believe it the darn thing ran worse when I got it back. Oh but for another 200$ they'll adjust the valves for me!!!

I'm not telling you to avoid them, just do as much as you can on your own without "professional" help.
