I guess that's better than nothing but it's not really a skid plate IMO. If you're going to do some hard off-roading I would go for something a bit more HD. If you're just gonna tackle some mud or brush every once in a while it's all good.

 

Pretty open ended question there - what exactly are you looking for opinions on? Do you want something for looks - or for protection?

I'd start with a BudBuilt IFS skid and work your way to getting an aftermarket bumper. The guard you linked looks like bling more than protection. Most of the guards like that damage the stock bumper with any impact.

 

That thing is just more for holding a pair of lights and looking good and won't offer much for protection.

 

Not to mention it looks like you'll lose about 3" of front end clearance. For the same money you can get a real skid plate, like Vermejo suggested.

 

i recommend either Budbuilt or re-enforce factory. i never buy something no one else has used and recommends.

 

Bud Built is a trail proven unit. The Westin Bull Bar w/ skid looks about as strong as the factory chin spoilers. And the fact that it comes with a bull-bar should give you a clue that it is all meant for asphalt princesses.

 

I have used and abused Bud Built--it can take an Arse whopping. if there was a Jerry Springer for car parts--i would be the bad guy taking advantage of of the overweight welfare mom--collecting checks and selling food stamps Get the whole Skid and not just a couple pieces.

yeah, thats why I called it a "Bumper and skid plate combo".
My bother has both and it's a really slick design.
