New wheels for stock 99 4runner - best tire size option?
I have a stock '99 4runner and just purchased a set of 15 x 7 black steel wheels (3.75 bs). They are in great shape and snagged them for 85 bucks. I use this as my daily driver, but plan to take it out on Colorado trails a bit more this year. I am looking for as much ground clearance as possible with as little rubbing as possible. I don't care much about road noise or gas mileage. Any suggestions on size given the stock lift/suspension is appreciated.

Yes, they did come with 16" wheels stock. I did some quick research before buying and if I recall I thought I read something that as long as the backspacing was x inches it would work. I don't know much about wheels, but if they don't fit, I'm not too concerned....I think I can resell them. I do hope they will work though; I've wanted a set of them for a long time.

That's what I was about to get at. There was only one company that made black steelies that would fit over the calipers of the 3rd gen's originally fitted with 16" rims. Do a search. I'm not sure if those wheels are still made or not. I can't remember the name of the company right off hand.
