22re wont idle

88 22re wont idle. runs fine but when idling with out the air on then it idles rough and will actually die. i am thinking i will spray some throttle body cleaner in it and try and clean the tps and iac. also i will go ahead and replace the cap and rotor button as well as plug wires. the plugs are pretty new and look great. dont see any vacuum lines that are messed up. i will also look at the tube between the afm and throttle body for cracks. anyone else have any ideas. and also anyone got a good toyota alternator that they want to sell. a new one is ridiculous. i already changed the brushes on mine but think the voltage regulator is messed up. thanks

Been having a similar problem with my truck. I checked and replaced my PCV valve and checked the EGR it was ok. I also adjusted the dashpot and it now holds the eng. at 2000 when pinching the line. The way it should. I would check those as well.

ended up changing the rotor button and dizzy cap and plug wires. noticed the rotor button was corroded a bit where some water ended up getting in. now it runs like a champ and all is well
