Red face Difficulty of water Pump install (should i burp)

Basic question how hard is it to install new water pump

I have experience in replacing spark plugs, t-stat, cap and rotor

My car is 22r 94 2wd 4runner

it overheats which causes low oil pressure and rumbles while idle

i may have a rad leak (which probably means replace water pump)

my car idles at 750 isnt this normal

Should i burp my upper rad hose someone said thats a good idea whats the best what to go about that

thanks

It's not terribly difficult on the 22r or 22re to install the water pump. Involves removing a good amount of stuff. It's in the sticky section of this forum under FSM links as far as the step by step procedure.

Do you know it's a bad water pump? You mentioned you have a radiator leak, but that doesn't necessarily mean a new pump is in order. Overheating can be attributed to many things. Do a search on "radiator burp", and that will give you more info than you could ever need, plus some step by step procedures that helped me out a lot as well when burping my system. Do a diagnostic as well by checking if you have any trouble codes.
