1996 T100 has a Pioneer Head Unit. Don't really like it.
I have a Toyota Head Unit from an 02 4Runner. Hey - it was free.
I honestly prefer the larger buttons, etc, so I want to make the swap.
But the wiring harness is different. Anyone ever made a pigtail or done a swap like this?

I did a similar swap years ago in a Corolla.....google the Toyota wiring schematics for the vehicle the stereo came from and your truck and you should easily be able to match them up.
I soldered the connections on my swap but, you could use crimped terminals to make your connections.
Good Luck!

Disclaimer, this is coming from knowledge of a '99 but should apply:
wiring harness I think is the same, problem is, you need the factory amp from the 02 as well, the radio will connect to the amp, the amp will have the same plugs to the truck itself............

i installed my wife's stock head unit from her 2000 4runner into my 88 4runner.
i had read that the pin outs where different - but weren't. at least, not for me.
the 2000's wire harness had an additional lead (blue, i think) where the 88's harness only had one.
you will need that factory amp!
everything works great and even illuminates when the lights are turned on.
and don't forget to plug the antenna lead/wire in - unit won't turn on without it.
just need to replace the 4" stockers now
