Lift plans...need suggestions.

Alright, so I know what I ultimately want to get for a lift. It will be the Tundra/LC setup. I will do the top out spacer and all that jazz with the diff drop and all the things that are needed.

Problem is that I am going to have to piece it together just because I don't have a ton of cash or the ability right now to save enough to do it. I suppose I could save but all of you know how that goes. You plan for it, but it will never happen cause something else comes up while you are trying to save it.

Anyway, my 97 has the typical rear end sag that I absolutely hate. It hits the bump stops over every speedbump. It looks like crap too.

So here is the dilemma: Part of the Tundra/LC lift is exactly that. The LC part. I know I will need LC coils and the LC shocks and to extend the bump stops. But I want to do something about my rear end soon.

I can get a set of 99 rear coils used for about $50 shipped to me and I can throw them in to be a temporary solution, but what if I get some LC coils, leave my stock shocks in there and just not wheel until I finish the setup.

Any ideas???

dont waist your money on the 99 coils. do the lift in sections. get the rear (lc's and shocks) ya its going to ride way high but it will help with the saving a buch of money thing. then do the front. and can i suggest instead of the tundras get the OME 883's. i have them. the ride higher softer and hold more weight. three of us are running them right now and we all love them... heres a teaser shot for ya. lol good luck

Save up and do it right the first time, don't screw around. In the end, you'll end up spending too much time and money and it won't be worth it. Check out this thread and click on the links, it'll help...

There is tons of info on here about lifts and stuff, just look around. Thats probably why you aren't getting much response to your question...this stuff has been beaten up on here. Here's another good link to Sonoran Steel, he's got great stuff and gives out a lot of good info on his site too!

Hate to thread jack, but don't want to make a new thread.

Can I just get coils and skip the shocks?

OME recommends matching the coils to the shocks. See www.arbusa.com and click on the accessorize your rig button. This will give you a pdf file with all the part numbers they have available for your truck. We typically have the common parts in stock or can drop ship them from ARB.

Thanks,
Gerone

Thanks Skrillah, I apprecate the input. I have done all the research you have indicated. I am going to stick with the Tundra/LC setup idea I originally wanted to do. Steve's kit is awesome and clearly is the winning way to go.

My whole point of this thread was to determine what I should do in the interim since finances are short. What I gather I should do is just deal with the truck as is until I have the cash to do the Sonoran Steel 1.1 setup.

I think that is the way to go...so I am just going to have to be financialy diciplined. That's ok...

Thanks everyone else for your input.

You really think so? My biggest fear is that the 883s will be crazy stiff with my stock bumper and I know the 882s have sagging issues. I don't plan on getting a bumper for a couple of years...get my drift?

I just ordered up some OME 891's for my runner to swap out the Downey 3.5" ones I have now. If your looking for some hight and a soft ride the Downey's are a good choice. I'll sell them to you for the price of a cup of good coffee when I get them out, since your a man 4 God. I hate to see you waist money on something that you only plan on using for a year.

BTW: the Downey's will probably only give you 2" of actual lift.

Since we have the discussion going on... ive got an 02 I was looking at going with the SS kit (99 coils). I tow at times and i think thats part of the reason for my sag right now. Of all the kits mentioned what would hold up best to the occasional towing of a 18ft bass boat?

Steve (Chaplain)- nice site... good to see more of us out there. teamrfc.org

Hey Chaplain,

Thanks a bunch! I would greatly appreciate that! I knew what RFC stood for but didn't realize it was that and more!!! I am definately going to have to contribute and throw on a sticker.

Name the coffee and it's yours!

Paul

Paul,
It will probably be a couple weeks before I have them swapped out and am back in SoCal. I'm in Colorado right now for some work, but the coils are yours for a large americano and I'll even through in some RFC stickers.

Hate to hijack, but I've amazingly never seen you 4runner around town. Or do you drive something else normally?
