4runner Maintainance????(oil)

I had just changed my oil less than two weeks ago and now I barely have any oil left. I don't really know too much about cars but my question is, "Is this a 4runner problem?(burning oil quickly?) or is there something wrong with my truck?

Multiple questions come to mind:

1. Who changed it - a Jiffy Lube type place? or your self? - reason I ask we've all heard horror stories about no oil being put back in or too much.

2. Any signs of drips/leaks - ie at the drain plug, oil filter, cam seals, valve covers? any oil on the ground?

3. Is there oil in the radiator overflow tank or is there an oil film in the radiator when you take off the cap? Are you creating lots of white smoke?

4. What year/model is the truck?

Just a few starter questions?

First of all, fill it right away!!

Its absolutly not a common Toyota problem.

There is pretty much only 3 places oil can go:

Past valve seals or piston rings causing bluish white smoky exhaust.
Through a bad seal and onto the outside of the motor and/ or transmition.
Into the coolant through a blown head gasket.

Look for fresh drops of oil under it when you have been parked for a while. Look for fresh oil on the transmition, driveshaft, etc. since it will blow back if its dripping while you drive. Look near the oil filter to make sure its not leaking there. When its cold, open the radiator and make sure it dosen't look like a choclate milkshake in there.

Its likely that the shop just didn't put enough oil in when they filled it.

Maybe they didn't tighten the oil drain bolt. Had that happen once.

That's the reason I change my own oil! I don't trust a 16 year old kid that doesn't know anything about engines to change it!!

Anyways, like what was said above, can you see smoke, or is it on the ground?
