I am replacing my 96 4runner 4WD V6 3.4l timing belt. And I can't remove crankshaft Pulley bolt. I used air gun(500lb torque) and doesn't move a bit.

Anyone has any idea to remove it without buying a special tool for it?

drop the oil pan and a few parts inside it so you can get a piece of wood to hold the crank while you break loose the bolt. That or SST

 

Another way people do it is crank the motor but be sure you unplug the ignitor before hand and place a breaker bar to the frame and it can break the bolt loose. I dont much like the idea but it works for some people.

yeah..crankin the motor with a breaker bar on the frame works FINE...did it on my '80 worked like a charm...only takes one click of the starter..lol..try that..it'll work..

 

X2 on using the starter. I used a C-clamp to hold the breaker bar to the frame. Just bump the starter a couple times and it comes right off. I know it sounds scary but it works great. It would be much easier than removing the oil pan and wedging wood between the block and crankshaft.

 

I am not a fan of shade tree wrenching but I fought that dang crank bolt for 2 hours!! Heating, tapping, then big daddy impacting. Around and around I whent for 2 hours. On ONE BOLT! Then I found this thread. Whent out and gave it a try. Bang the bolt was loose in a second. I could have been done with my timing belt job had I done this from the start. Also do unplug the coils to be safe.
