Changing PCV valve - came across a couple of issues

First time changing PCV valve - just finding it was half the battle (I think).
When I tried to get the grommet out, it came out in pieces. I got most of it out (98%), but I can't be sure a few crumbs didn't break off and fall in. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Also, to get to the valve, I ended up removing the piece that the other end of the PCV hose goes to. Don't know what its called, but its held on with two nuts and is a tube with a 90º bend that runs into the plenum. The gasket on this just crumbled away. Can I use something like FIPG for this or should I just get that gasket? If so, what is that part that the gasket is on called?

i doubt any small pieces will hurt anything. and i would just replace the gasket mentioned.

Thanks mr toy. Any idea what that part is called that the gasket is from? I hate having to walk into a parts dept. not knowing what somethings called and trying to describe it.

Why didn't you just disconnect the tube instead of taking what it attached to out? Do you mean this?

Yep Mic, I do mean that. Thanks for the pic, didn't feel like going up to get the camera at the time. And I removed it because this was the simplest way I could figure to get to that PCV valve. And it was simple getting it off, just not sure about putting it back on yet.

Anyway, that part is just called a ventilation tube, the hose is a ventilation hose and go figure, the gasket is a ventilation gasket. Part # 12255-65010 and the hose is 12261-65010 if it helps anyone in the future.

Now, that damn $3 gasket is on backorder and isn't expected in for about a week. The closest dealer to have one in stock is in Montana, and thats a bit too much of a drive from Cali.

Soooooooo, what can I do to improvise on this for a week or until the next time I remove this tube. This was a plastic type gasket, so, would one of those generic cut-to-size rubber or cork type gaskets work? Don't want to mess with liquid gasket as that would make too much of a mess cleaning it up.

I don't need to get it going, but I'd like to as I'm doing a tune up and changing fluids and I'd like to drive and move it as I go.
