Arrow HELP -> Repair Steering Wheel Leather?

I need some help from the experts here on the board...

I've got a '98 4Runner Limited and the leather on the top part of my steering is peeling and flaking off and looks bad (at least I think the stock wheel is leather wrapped and not faux). It had some damage from the first owner when I bought it, but now is getting appreciably worse.

Anybody know if the leather on the steering wheel can be repaired? or how difficult and costly it is to replace the steering wheel? Any other ideas?

I want to stay stock - I do not want to go with an aftermarket steering wheel.

Thanks for your help!

Take it to an upholstry shop. They can recover it for a reasonable rate. They are ~$500 from Toyota, considerably less at an upholstry shop.

The one on my 2002 Runner wasn't bad, but not perfect. I called Toyota and a new leather steering wheel was $800. I ended up getting a Europerf Wheel Skin in black from Performance Products for $50.

To see pics and install tips go to my site linked in my sig.

I did a wheelskins too, not perfed, on my Bronco II. The wheelskins is now 14 years old and starting to show some wear, it's done a good job.

I'll be putting one on the yota when I can.
