While my engine is running there is a ticking noise. I am wondering if anyone knows what this could be? Is this something i should have looked at?

 

Engine? Vehicle? Miles?

if you have fuel injection then you are hearing the fuel injectors pumping gasoline.. or your engine could be ticking because it's going to explode.

 

Thank you for the responses. I am running a 98 4running with 120k on it. I have read some other threads on this and it seems it’s a common problem that has to do with the fuel injectors. From what I have heard a good fix is to add some Lucas Lubricant to the fuel . I am going to try that and ill post if that helps.

 

yeah let us know if it works. a lot of the v6's has that ticking. mine does too, i just live with it.. possible explanations are the fuel injector or the lifters. the only reason why i dont think its the lifters is bc even with really thick oil you still hear it though it does dampen the sound some. but on the other hand how in the hell does the injectors make so much noise?? seriously
