check it out... ill let you in on a little secret..

i am such a DUMAS (pronounce DOO-MOS) ... i forgot my electrical circuit wiring 101. i spent 5 hours out there with wire and my new weller soldering gun(awesome), making a wiring harness for my two new lights to go on the prerunner front bumper. i hooked it up, and the lights came on, but the switch didnt work. i spent 3 hours tryin to figure out why. when i did i literally slapped myself and almost slammed my head into the garage wall. you only NEED TWO wires: the battery to the switch, and the switch to the lights. and the ground goes to the negative battery terminal. i did that, and VOILA! they worked fine. i feel like such a DUMAS. though it prob was that it was HOT today and i was in the hot desert sun all day. here are some pics

You did wire in a relay, or at least a fuse right?

And yes, I remember wanting to pull my hair out when I was wiring my hella's.

yeah. tomorrow i plan on putting a inline fuse from the battery to the switch, i only have one from the switch to the lights. here are some pics of them in action


and this amazingly sounds GOOOOOOOOOOD right now.......

How do you like the added lighting? I tell yah, they pay for themselves as soon as you really need them on a dark night. Especially when they help you avoid a deer at 80km/h.

i like em, but havent had a chance to test em on the trail... not gonna go off the highway until i either get a skidplate for my bumper, or drill some holes in my stock one so i can attach it. they are the BAJA lights available at kragen and vatozone for about 30 bucks a piece, and same candlepower/wattage as my KCs. i think one of these days im gonna go to pep boys and get covers for them all. make people think the bumper ones are KCs. . and yes the 'fries' do sound GOOD... oh god why did i give up weed? lol. oh, i know why... got too expensive.

oh yeah, heres one i wish i had gotten a picture of... first time i hooked up the switch to the lights and battery to test it, i totally blew the switch... i heard a SNAP, and suddenly i couldnt see the battery there was so much smoke... lol.

PASS me the fries!!!

its not that it is much cheaper in canada its that the qualilty is so high and product is usually great..of course like with everything in life its who you know..

i gave to alchol but weed i dont think i could ever give up such a giuft from the gods...

Wire in a 30 amp circuit breaker from the battery to the lights, much better than a fuse, it doesnt blow it just shuts off when it overloads.

I would recommend using a grommet, or at least a bunch of tape where your wires are tied to the radiator support. the vibration you will experiance banging that thing around in the desert will cut the insulation and short your wires to groung.

Target is talking about that picture of your wires zip tied together going through the front end by the radiator. The vibration from just driving down the road let alone trail running will cause the wires to chafe and eventually wear through the insulation causing a short. You need to put a grommit or something in the hole to protect the wires.

Since you already have the wires in there the easiest thing [if you can't find a grommit the right size] would probably be to make one out of some vinyl hose like aquarium air tubing. If you can get a grommit then just cut it on one side and install it with the cut side opposite to where the wires are touching the metal now.

Take a short piece of tubing (one size up from smallest would probably be best) and carefully split it length wise then cut to size (enough to get all the way around the hole) set it in place pushing the split part on to the metal as you work your way around the hole locating the joint as before, opposite the wire/metal contact point. Friction should hold it in place but if you want more security a little dab of silicone or epoxy on the metal before you start installing the tubing (or grommit) will make it more permanent.
