You alternator is dead.
And it drained your battery.
You will need your battery charged (since its dead) or a new one if you killed it, and a new alternator.
The charging and brake light is toyotas built in "stuff aint working" system

I had this problem earlier in the week. Swapping an alternator is not a big deal. I squeezed mine between the frame and the lower radiator hose and all was well. Get thee a new alt and you'll be rollin' again.

For most guys, i say just do the whole alternator. I know its prolly just a set of brushes. But its just 100x easier to replace the unit as a whole than to try rebuilding it. You can find a good used one at a local wrecking yard for a great price, and it means much less down time instead of screwing with fixing the old one.

if you know anything about how brushes etc. work then you can replace the old brushes in under an hour. I am also a hobbiest so I know exactly what I am doing with electric motors. The difference is you don't have to go scrounging for the right alternator in a junkyard and hope the one you find isn't too rusted to use. Brushes can be had at most auto parts stores.
