So I finally fixed the rear windshield wiper motor and to my surprise since I got this 4runner the rear window finally goes up and down with the switch before I was only able to roll the window up and down with the key, tonight I go to throw trash and roll the window down from the outside with the key, I go throw the trash and roll the window up no problem pull into my garage and realize I left something back there. I hit the down button and no down I was like what the HELL! So I get out and use my keys to roll it down get back in and push up on the window switch it goes half way up I push down and nothing it just goes up. Has the window switch itself gone bad or is it a relay is there just one relay for up and down or is there two one for up and down.

 

Sounds like the switch, or the relay in the quarter panel.

the FSM details a procedure to test this switch, but I do not have the FSM for the 95 4Runner.

 

start with the switch first, remove and thoroughly clean it (take it apart). you wont believe the amount of crap that gets in there, use a pencil eraser to clean the contacts (removes oxidation) carefully. reassemble and you should be good to go.

yeah my rear window didnt work for like 3 months and then a couple weeks ago just decided to start working again and its worked fine since... pretty weird
