15" rims on a 96 limited?

I found a set of 15" 2nd gen 4runner wheels with bfg muds on them for a decent price locally. Will a 15" rim fit on a 3rd gen 4runner. if i remember correctly a 15" rim is to small due to the size of the brakes on the limiteds. Just wanting to get confirmation on this, thanks.

yea dude I tried doin that once and it didnt quite work out so well. if your 4runner came with 16s then thats the smallest rim you can go.

Tried it too, does not work.. it kinda sucks, you could always swap the calipers for the tacoma ones........

thanks for the replies. by the time i bought these tires/rims and then swapped calipers, it would probably be cheaper and easier to just buy muds for the rims i have now. thanks again

FWIW I was going to do the same thing. I had a set of 15" wheels here that wouldn't fit, and I even had a set of Tacoma 15" calipers off a set of junked Taco rear ends I bought. The Taco brakes will bolt up fine, but they will require a different brake line -for some reason they have a different end where it goes into the caliper??
Anyways, I ended up not going thru with the mod because I didn't feel right going UP in tire size and DOWN in brake size.
