That's my first malamute...Denali. She's sitting right here beside me now. Wherever I go, she goes. And she was pretty warm in the sleeping bag that snowy night in the first pic.

One of the two best dogs I've ever owned.

My male malamute is great also, but we adopted him as a unclaimed refugee after the Cloudcroft, NM fires in 2000. He's a big chicken. Except in protecting my wife.

That was the this years monsterous blizzard here in colorado this year. The fence in the back is 4foot tall. The snow came up to the top.

I woke up to this...

Next Morning....better start shovelin....

First casualty... ya right, a Ford escape...

Bastage decides to sleep while I shovel....

One side of the driveway shoveled, screw the other half. My back was done....

Great looking dog 89.

Here's my big boy!

As for finding beautiful scenery like these...You'll never find shots like these near paved roads. Stay off the pavement. But be respectful of the land and landowners.

Duke,
Likewise, looks like you got a great malamute too!! My dog, (name is Manook) will be 9 years old this year. He still acts like a puppy and trips over curbs while staring at the neighbors cat

How big is your male and female? Mine is 85lbs. Couldn't ask for a better breed in my opinion. :drum:

89...

You're right...Malamutes are my favorite breed...But they're too much dog for most folks.

Denali (female, 75lbs) is 10 years old and still in great shape. Loves everybody, and talk all my dogs (4 other dogs...all adoptees) to vocalize like her.

Juneau (male) came to us a sickly refugee weighing 80lbs, recovering from heartworms and then ehrlichia...which seems to be chronic ehrlichia since he's had 3 total bouts with it that we know of. In fact, he's been fighting the latest infection for the past 3 weeks. I just knew I was going to have to put him down. But I force fed him a mix of natural peanutbutter, rice, molasses, and a vitamin paste and managed to bring him back.

I think he's about 9 or 10 and when he's healthy he weighs about 100 lbs. He loves women (human)...and they love him

Any of you guys want a malamute, beware...they go through extended teenage years and live on a diet of dead things they find, socks and panties. They'll dig through doors and walls, teach your other dogs to yip and howl like coyotes at emergency vehicles and trains. They shed twice a year for about a month at a time. Since they're a little closer to being a wolf than your average dog, they tend to be pretty good at thinking and reasoning and will just sit down if they don't want to do something.

But they LOVE people and are gentle with children. You'll love them so much, you'll buy refrigerated air just to keep them. I can't imagine ever being with a couple.

Adopt an adult and then you don't have to go through the puppy stage.

I agree, Malamutes aren't for the average dog owner. My neighbors loved mine so much they wanted one. I tried to talk them out of it. They got one, and got rid of it 2 months later. It was more cuz they didn't have the time to take care of a dog, let alone any dog.

My dog never howls at sirens!!! He is very quite and lounges in the backyard while I'm at work. He lays on the deck as if he were king of the beasts!
