2wd rear end same as 4x4?

I have been trying to find out what rear end i have in my 98 2wd tacoma with the 2.4L in it. Ive heard that its the same as the 4x4 but Ive also read the only the 6cyl 2wd has the same as the 4x4. So if someone could help me out because Im looking at buying a locker and need to know what rear end I have.

The ARB Air Locker application guide has just one part number for ALL Tacoma rears, so if you get one of those you cant go wrong. Do other locker brands list different part numbers for different diff types?

if your tacoma is the mini 5 lug, no it has a 7.5 inch rear end and will not take that arb airlocker

i dont know exactly what it takes to be honest

if its just a prerunner it is the 8.4 with non elocker.

My tacoma is a 5 lug bolt pattern, it is not a pre-runner. I have found a few lockers that say they are for the 7.5 in but one said it was for a front axle. The lock right locker for the 7.5 in is here Lock Right 7.5in 27 spline Locker and right now i cant find the one that said its for the front.

Aussie also makes a 7.5 front locker for our 4runners, im guessing it should work the same way with your rear end.

but i know ARB does not.
