No reverse lights or license plate lights

Just like the title says, i dont have reverse or license plate lights. I have a 92 4runner 3.0 v6 manual trans. Just noticed the other night as I was backing up in the dark that I didnt have reverse lights. The lights that light up the license plate were dark as well. My head lights, brake lights, and blinkers all work fine. Im not sure how long this has been going on for cuz I dont drive the yota every day. No more than a few months. Anyways the bulbs and all the connections in the tail gate look fine. Anyone have problem like this before??? I dont even care about no reverse lights, but I dont wanna get pulled over for not being able to see my license plate. please help me

Have you looked at your fuse box?

the fuse box for those lights should be behind the driver side kick pannel

ok, dumb question maybe

on the 4runner reverse lights, how much of the lens is supposed to light up? for the first time in 10 years of ownership, i noticed only the top 1/4 of the white lens housing actually lights up. i pulled it apart and there are only 2 bulbs; one at the top for the backup lights, and one for the license plate lights. so it appears i'm not missing anything and the extra white lens is just for show

I had the same problem, but my brake lights worked. It happened to be my wiring. So check your wiring, and your fuses, then your bulbs.

so the full reverse light lens lights up?. there are only 2 bulbs in each housing: one for the backup light, one for the license plate. both of mine are working.

i don't even see how it could, but i seem to remember it did....hmmmm
