Wheres the fill plugs?
86 toyota pickup..I got the gear oil for my tranny/transfer case. Manual tranny BTW. Where exactly are the fill plugs? I see on the driverside of the tranny a large bolt with a place for a TORX bolt in the center...and kind of to the right of that is another large bolt. Is one of these the fill or drain?

Trans fill plug will be middle up trans, about half way up on drivers side i believe. Either that or pass side lol.
Shouldn't be a torx bolt. If you take that out, you reverse detent will fall out. Should be a 24mm plug (or 17mm if it had been changed)

Just a quick note on the fill plugs. Before you do the job(not really poster I am sure you have by now) go to the dealer and get new ones. Ask for the 17mm plugs, it will make a world of difference. I just fought with the t-case and rear diff fill plugs and swaped em out. Had to use a 24 mm box end and a 1 1/2 ton jack. Did not have a breaker bar and very little room for error. P.O. damn near rounded one off and I damn near rounded the diff bolt off. When I realised I was lifting the t-case i knew I had the right spot just no leverage. That jack saved me a lot of time. Just had to get it in the right spot.
Anyways those 17mm fill plugs have a lot more area for the wrench or socket to grab onto and less of a chance of rounding those stupid 24mm plugs.
Ahh but all fluids changed... after 2 trips to the dealer.
