runnin 33's

i have a 1980 yota 4x4 shortbed...with 31x10.50x15's on it right now...it does fine with them....(it wont spin the front tires in 4-hi though...but i think its the clutch)...but i was wondering how much power loss im going to have with 33x13.50x15's.....yes i know...a very wide tire....but idc....i can make them fit....lol...would i be better off stayin 31's....i know it would be best to regear with 33's...but i definately dont want to have to do that...lol...and i dont want to lift it much...because then i have to get hi-steer...(big bucks there)...so the question is...spend about $135 a piece on the 33's or spend abuot $103 a piece on the 31x11.50x15...thanks for the input

there was 33x12.50s on my 79 when i bought it, went to a 31 for about a week, some power difference, nothing major, but she was gear-bound at 55 (4spd) with the 33s never had the opportunity to try my 35s at highway speed

as for fitment, 33x12.50s fit stock, 35x12.50s will fit with MINOR trimming to the front fenders (people seem to always argue with that statement, but i've ran both, stock, no problem...if u need pics of fitment, i got them)

and as for spinning 31s in 4-hi in the front....good luck..ever..well at least wit the 20R, i could only spin 32s in reverse, never felt the need to hurt the clutch my launching it in 4wd

You can't get 33's... you'd have to change your user name.

31's to 33's didn't make much difference when I had a '90 4cyl pickup with auto. A little slower, but I wasn't that fast to begin with. 35's or more and you'd appreciate a regear.

well...i would like to have 33x12.50x15's....but i want the SS LTB's....and they dont come in that size....o well...but if you guys dont think i would have to regear...(i drive about a mile to school...go muddin about 5 miles from house...and the most i have ever driven it was about....a 25 or 30 mile ROUND trip...to a town about 10 miles away)...so...i dont think i would have to regear...i just dont want to get the tires....then not even hardly be able to spin them out in the mud...(im a BIGGGGG TIME MUDDER!...but nohing deep or anything)....and i usually need a bigger footprint...most of the trails around here are from guys with 454 chevys and runnin 35x12.50's...or 3812.50's....so i wanted a 13.50 so i could make it through those trails a lil better...and also...with the price of the LTB's....its VERY HARD to pass up a deal like that....especially with freeeeeeee shipping...lol...and 10% off right now...(but i've seen better deals)...but thanks for the info...if anybody else has anything to say...feel free to chime right in..

I have a 1987 Toyota 4 runner. Can I fit 33 by 12.5 tires if I get some bushwacker cut out fender flares and trim some sheet metal?

Yes they will fit, but they will rub like crazy. You need at the very least a 2" body or suspension lift..

You also need wheels with 4" backspace or less.
