Ok let me start out by saying i have done i would say 10 brake jobs in my past. When i first purchased my runner i had to put a new line in that runs to the rear brake hose. Of course a month later the other "brake line" that runs to the rear started to leak fluid. My question is what the hell is the sway bar looking thing that bolts up to the rear diff that has brake fluid running to it? My guess would be something that locks the diff in 4low possibly. Second question is does it need bled and do i just bleed it from the proportioning thing that is bolted to the trucks body (i noticed a bleeder screw up there. Also i know to start farthest from the master cylinder so i was wondering if i should go rear pass, that thing, driver rear and so on? Also i am all by myself on this so is gravity bleeding going to be sufficient? Thanks for all your help.

 

No...that doesn't have anything to with the diff. That is part of the load proportioning valve, if I understand you correctly...

Start with the rear driver's side, then rear pass., then front pass., then front driver, and then lspv. Gravity bleeding will take you forever, if you can even get all the air at that way. If it's your absolute only recourse, do what you have to. Or, stop in at your nearest parts store and see if the rent or sell brake bleeding kits.
