Oil Dipstick Tube

Oil Dipstick Tube
Hi all, 1st time on YotaTech.
I just had my engine swapped from a donor 3.4 T100 4X4 to 2X4 auto.
My problem is when the dipstick tube was installed it was actually just sitting on the plug that when I push the stick in, it didn't go in all the way.
So I finally removed the tube and tried pushing the stick in and it was still blocked. I removed the exhaust manifold cover and got a clear view of the plug. It's round so no socket or wrench that will fit.
I found this quote from ORS "1999 and earlier models have a machined hole with a removable plug where the dipstick will be installed. (see illustration)."
My question is ~ does anyone know how to remove the plug without pulling out the oil pan? Thanks in advance for any tips/advice.

1. Grab the biggest pair of vise grips you can find.
2. Clamp them down tightly on that little round sucker.
3. Yank like you are a 500 pound man trying to save the last Twinkie on earth.
In truth, I have heard that plug is dang near impossible to remove. Most drill it... which of course would put bits of metal just where you don't want them... in the oil pan.
I wonder if you could weld a lip of some sort to the plug and bang the lip from underneath, eventually knocking out the plug. Sounds crude and rather violent... but might be worth a shot. Who knows, maybe the heat from welding will loosen things up a bit.
