new here hve a afew questions!

ok heres the story. just bought a 93 4runner with 198k on it! love it ! 3.0 and it seems fine. got the truck home and begun working on it, the usual stuff change the oil ( syn 10w30) coolant flush new front brakes so here are my issues.... i have a whining noise under load.. 65 throught it in N ( its an auto) and whining goes away but rev the engine at that speed and its not there anyone have any thoughts next! the timing belt was replaced at 101K it doesnt look like the head has been takin off so im callin the dealer to find out if its been replaced or not any sure ways to tell? i plan on changing the trans and diff fluids this week.. basiclly im givin the truck the once over before winter hits anyone have any other ideas ??? this is my first yota always wanted a 4runner so here i am

My truck does the same thing.

Check the Power steering fluid and add if needed. If it runs low for a while it will have a tendency to wine even with fluid in it.

Sounds like you have checked everything else I can think of.

Hope you figure it out.

How loud is the whining? Where's it coming from? Could be the PS pump I guess. Kinda sounds like your tranny might be noisy in gear. Meaning it may be something internally with the transmission that your hearing. Unless it's coming from another part of the vehicle, possibly another part of the drivetrain.

The timing belt should be replaced every 60K. It wouldn't be whining I don't think though.
