Leaf spring bushings for steering idler arm repair.

I had to replace my stock idler arm on my 88 4runner so i took it off and noticed the bushings were worn, I didnt have my new idler arm yet so I started tinkering in my garage I pulled it apart and noticed the bushings looked about the same size as spring bushings. I had a box of urethane bushings from my landcruiser sitting around. They were tight but worked perfectly.

Summary:
If you have some leafspring bushing and your idler arm bushings are shot it think the urethane bushings work great.

Waste not want not.

That's why I keep all kinds of crap like that sittin' on shelves. All I got for spare bushings currently are some idler arm bushings, coincidentally, and some shock bushings.

I won't likely be needing the idler arm bushings, as I use manganese bronze bushings in mine.

That's a good trick to know though, thanks for sharin'. I wouldn't bother tryin' to use rubber bushings if that was what ya had. But urethane just might actually last ya awhile.
