Questions about the running boards on my 04

Hey all,

I'm relatively new here andcan't help but be overwhelmed with the information on this site. I've had my runner for almost 4 yrs now and I think it's about time I use it for what it was made for. In the works are an OME lift and new wheels/tires. But I've been contemplating for the last few weeks about taking the running boards off. How easy of a process is this and is it something I could do? If the boards are off will it look unbalanced with the mud flaps on or should those come off as well? My only concern w/ this is damage from rocks being kicked up and damaging the paint. My wife and I are lkooking forward to finally riding offroad. We don't live to far away from the GWNF on off 81 in VA. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Just ditch them, I think it looks better without them personally. There is 6 bolts on either side. Super easy job. When they are off, put the bolts back in the holes so they dont get all gunked up in the case that you want them back on at some point in the future.

Well, yesterday I took off the running boards and I can't believe how much better it looks. Even my wife said WOW, that looks good.
