biggest size with no lift???

my 1980 yota p/u is fine with the 31"10.50" tsl's....but my next tires is going to be a bit bigger...and alot wider...the next set im getting are 33x13.50x15 LTB's....im wondering if i would be able to run them with no lift at all...im sure i could get a bunch with a few tweaks that i have laying around the garage...but im wondering if i can run them with no lift...(dont mind the width i know the state laws and i will be running flares)..thanks in advance

I'm not 100% sure when it comes to 1st gens, but I seriously doubt you'll fit 13.5 wide under any stock compact truck. I know that to run 12.5 wide on a 3rd gen w/o rubbing you need 3-4" lift. BTW, post up pics of your Dodge, I'm interested to see what 54" worth of tire looks like

Those tires are HUGE!! I will tell you that. I bought these for my truck and they are too damn big. They barely fit on 15x8s, and hit on the inner fender, but w/any flex, I am going to mess my chit up. I'm thinking of selling them now. I don't want to lift my truck. It's my DD.

First, any advantage of a wider tire offroad (in conditions other than sand, and maybe, sometimes, mud) is debatable, and everyone can go back and forth forever, but I have never found ANY objective evidence that a wider tire has more traction offroad than a narrower tire, especially for light trucks and Jeeps.

Second - and this IS FACT - for a given amount of lift, you can fit a taller tire if it's narrower.

Conclusion, IMHO, width causes MUCH more fitment issues than height for no real advantage. Height provides clearance under the diffs, and is the only practical way to get it.

You could maybe fit 33x10.50, no way in hell you're gonna fit 33x13.50. Maybe something like 30x13.50, and whats the point in that?

I've heard claims of 33x10.50 with no lift, but thats gotta be a tight squeeze. I personally would go with a 2-3" body lift from rough country, slight torsion bar crank, shackles in the rear, and do 33x12.50. This may not be the most bombproof setup, but if you're on a budget (like most of us) this setup shouldn't let you down. Just my .02

or if your on a real budget you can go with 33x10.50. they fit. tc was my inspiration. i did it... but 13.50... nope not gonna fit stock. its close with 10.50 but it works.. go with tc's advice and go with the skinny tire. save the cash you would need for the lift and grab a locker.

T$ speaks wisdom here. Thats one thing I wish i would have done different. 33x10.50 + locker = way more capable rig than 33x13.50 with open diffs

Or even 31-10.50 and locked is better than 33-13.50 lifted and open diff.

Why do you have an aversion to lifting the Toyota? Surely it's money and no other reason since you mention in your signature that you've got 18 inches of it on a Dodge quad cab. Not that I'm advocating a lift for the Toyota...
