Almost drowned it, now it won't start
Here's the short story:
I went into the river a little too deep...got out and it ran okay. I started to drive back, when suddenly it dies. I have spark, and I have fuel, but no ignition. I just got a new battery for it, since I cranked the hell out of the old one and killed it. The motor is not frozen, since I can still turn the crankshaft by hand. I just drained all the fuel; it had about 2-3 gallons of water in it. The coil, distributor, and spark plugs are dry. The ECU is good, it didn't touch the water. All fuses are good. One day it cranked when jumped to my car, now it won't even crank, even with a brand new battery.
Any suggestions? I can't figure out anymore. My head is spinning and I'm getting really frustrated! Help!

replace your distributor, your dis cap, spark plug wires, etc. see if that works. and if its carburated, spray the guy down with carb cleaner. oh, and if its fuel injected, try the stuff you spray into the intake to get the engine to start. if it has spark, try that.

did you try ether, or other intake chemicals that force the engine to start? also, just cuz its dry doesnt mean its good, are they getting power? are they functioning? id try the ether first, and if it dont work, then check out the other stuff.

Haven't tried that stuff yet. Right now I'm trying to get all the water-contaminated fuel out of the motor (with the spark plugs out of course). Then I plan on installing fresh plugs and gasoline, but I can't even get it to crank yet. I don't want ignition right now, just for the starter to crank. After that I will worry about everything else.

It doesn't do anything. It doesn't even click. I can hear the starter solenoid click, but none from the starter. I will wire it straight to the battery again, and see if anything happens.

2-3 gallons of water in the gas? that would be my guess as to why it might of died, did you make sure you are getting spark? my shop teacher always would say if it doesnt start, check the FACTS Fuel Air Compression Timing Spark. my guess is its either fuel of spark problems. dont forget to change your oil and you might want to think about changing it in your diffs too, if you dont have extended breathers on them.

If it is a 4cyl pull the number 4 spark plug, if it is a 6cyl pull number six.
Put a long skinny screwdriver down the hole and slowy crank it by hand. If the screwdriver goes up and down as you turn then proceed with other testing. If not your engine is broke

The engine turns by hand (and by that, I mean with ratchet and socket). Have extended breathers, but the whole rear end was under the water for about 1 and a half hours. I know there is water in the rear diff, but water didn't reach the front diff breather.
Right now my problem is not fuel or spark, but the starter not cranking.

if it locked up a rear cylinder it may have broken the crankshaft and you would be able to turn the crank by hand but the back part could still be locked up.
This is not the most likely scenario, in fact I don't recall ever seeing it happen on a Toyota just some other brands. But it could happen. And it's easy enough to check for.

Starter/Starting Problem
Have you checked the ECM/EFI Fuse , maybe got some water in a plug and blew fuse - of course you said you had fire so I guess that wouldn't be the issue but there are other fuses that control ignition / starting functions

Starter/Starting Problem
I believe there is a Ignition Fuse that would prevent the Ignition Switch from actuating the solenoid on the starter , usually that dark colored 7.5 Amp fuse , check that one if you havn' t
