if i want to change from coils to rear leaf springs can i use the same housing? do they offer any weld on tabs or kits? i have a 79 solid front axle already and thought about swaping everything, but just thinking for now

 

You can use the same housing... just have to cut and grind all the link brackets off... which takes some time.

Marlin and All Pro sell axle perches, which will need to be welded on to capture the leaves when remounted.

A pickup axle of similar year would just bolt right in there, but you'd loose the option of changing the pinion angle which might be important depending on your lift.

Of course... you could mod the pickup axle perches... but now you just going to have to do a bunch of work again.

Ahhhhh, why would you want to take a perfectly good suspension system and turn it into something from the dark ages

If you want to swap out from coils to leafs just use the 1989-1995 Rear Lift Kit and get some shackle mounts too:
