calibrating my speedy meter

I need to speed up my speedometer. I put on bigger tires and not my mph is way off. Does toyota make differnet gears that go in the trans for that??

Thanks

Take it to a speedometer calibration shop. They'll set you up

I am in no postion to tell about that but I would venture to say that like GM (darn another infraction hehe) the transmissions may have interchangeable / replaceable gears but they will only take you a little each way for stock unless they manufacture a wider range for this purpose (it is a trk!) .
Ask your dealer parts guy to look it up for you or follow the cable back to the tranny and see if it has the housing for the gear , if that is the case then you need to research how they identify them (by teeth in gear or by color) , either way you will have to remove the gear and see what you have and go from there - up or down (less teeth make speedo faster / more teeth slow speedo down) .
Then test it on the road side by side with someone who has stock vehicle and presto .
I just looked at my manual 5Spd and it looks the same as all the rest , undo one bolt where cable feeds transmission (gear oil leakage at this point unless you put the rear wheels on ramps) and the little drive gear housing will slide out , the little gear will just slide out the rear of the housing if the same as GM stuff .
Do some research and find out what they offer , find out what you have already then buy (prolly have to get more than one , I used to just but whole set but I have no idea how many they make for theirs) the one or a couple .
If memory serves me right each different gear whether going up or down was only about 1 1/2 - 2 miles per hour on the speedo .
They also have little miniature gear reduction boxes for this too so you can screw it on Tranny and then screw speedo cable to it and its done ( had to use one of them and the highest gear GM made for the tranny when I had 411's in my truck) .
You decide hehe .
Find out how far off your speedo is then get the gears (after you find out what gear you have first)
Just remember each gear you go up or down 1 1/2 - 2 miles per hour on the speedo .
I welcome correction from anyone as I am a Old School GM guy (please don't ban me (cowering) )
