will a taco transfer case fit in a 91 pickup?
#1
ok, ANOTHER TACO PARTS QUESTION..?
theirs a tacoma in my local lkq junk yard... the transfer case is still in it and i was wondering if it would fit in my 91 pickup, and it it is any better than the chail driven one thats already in my pickup?
MY NEXT QUESTION is if the manual hubs off a tacoma will work in place of me auto lock hubs?
thanks!

exactly, Toyota wasn't stupid when they designed the drivetrain our trucks. Pretty much all the v6 gear is WAY overbuilt

Sorry - didn't see that part - do you TRULY have automatic hubs or ADD?
If you have ADD (ie drive flanges) then I think the Taco hubs would work, but the preTaco ones are readily available enough that there's no reason to risk it.

As for the Taco t-case--that is an affirmative. In fact I have one in my '94 4runner with the 3.0 and 5 speed. The gearing is better than the case you have now. Tacos have 2.57:1. The front output would be on the driver's side so you would have to SAS to a driver's side differential donor axle. Also you would be looking at some exhaust modifications to clear the driver's side front driveshaft.
