3rd gen 4Runner tweeter casing

Hi,

What's the biggest tweeter that can be installed in the 3rd gen tweeter casing beside the side mirror?

Also, how do i go about removing the casing?

Thanks!

you just pop it out with a screwdriver. Can't help you on the first question.

The biggest tweeter?? That's like saying jumbo shrimp right

Anyway, it's a tight fit, so you are pretty much going to have to go w/ the same size as stock. Otherwise, you'll need to modify the cover itself for a larger tweet to fit...and even then, you won't gain much more room.

I replaced all my door speakers and the 2 tweets w/ JBLs. The tweets were the same size as stock. Here's the new JBL tweet w/o the cover on.

Oh and Whitey13's right, just pop off the cover w/ a flat head screwdriver.

dijlop any word on replacement wheels yet? {hyjack! NOW TAKE ME TO CUBA!} lol
So far as the fitment of larger tweets goes you could try ordering some new non-tweeter corner covers from the dealer and attaching the new tweeter directly to them... if you get one with an angle mount you could end up with a nearly stock look...
just an idea...

Thanks guys!
Just popped the tweeter cover a while ago and was surprised with what i saw....hahaha
i've always thought that there's a cylinder inside the casing that holds the tweeter.

now i know.

I installed some 3/4" jl audio tweeters by cutting out the grille on the plastic covers and using the flush mount kit included with the component set. Looks great and now they aren't blocked by the plastic.
