Lightbulb Some Duplicolor pictures

Just wanted to throw up some pictures of something we did -- It was mainly to cover up the gay paint job that the prior owner put on it.

Let me your opinion on it, I am quite undecided about it.

Geez, I dont know, that is a lot of rhino spray. I would have gone just black gloss spray bomb in the same pattern, and maybe get the rest of that stripe one color.
My dad wants to do my rear bumper in rhino, but I like it flat black ; to each a zone.

But ya I mean I would rather have the rhino instead of the gay pride mobile. What was the other owner on

Otherwise nice truck!

Did you use a sandblasting gun to spray that on?

Genius...

Not sure I like the look though. Was that old scheme painted on or was it a sticker?

You definitely need to do the entire truck that way!

I'd be interested to see what it looks like all said and done. Looks pretty good I'm not to sure about the texture difference.

You are the winner - that is a $9 Sandblasting gun from Home Depot. It works really really well. You must have good water filters on your air system for it to work though. This is a must- ask me how I know. As far as the air compressor goies, If you can run the a sandblaster without problems, you should be fine to paint with it- I have a 7hp 2 stage IR compressor (80 gal upright) and it doesnt break a sweat --

I have not got the nerve to do a hole truck yet... I think it would look good though. As they say it is all in the prep work. That bed was down to bare metal and then scuffed with 60 grit and the sides were sanded with 100 grit -you just need to get the shine off.

The previous paintjob was stickers that were put down and then they clearcoated over them, so i could not buff them off which would have been my first choice.

The sprayer makes a beautiful texture for the bed but yes it might be a little too "textured" for most people on the outside. I think it looks good myself but can see where some would not...

BTW, Herculiner is a much, much better product to work with than duplicolor.

My friends and I have done a Grey on a Jeep, a rolled on Black on a VW and a Black on a Honda Accord complete bedliner on all.

The rolled on has great coverage! But does have inconsistencies in the right light that can be seen as paths from the roller. Sprayed on Grey looks like paint unless your literally 4 feet from it. The Honda Accord has thin spots because of only one coat, always do 2 or 3 coats unless rolling.

Overall its an awesome effect, real eye catcher, plus durable. I plan on doing a complete frame off restore on my 85 next summer with bedliner on EVERYTHING. I will post pics next summer as the job goes. But here are some of the vehicles I can find.

Btw, I helped a buddy roll on some Herculiner last weekend. He did the whole cab of his truck and it really turned out great. After using Herculiner on his I decided to at the very least do the bed of my truck. After seeing the results of the sand blast I'm going to do it that way.

Here's a link to his truck:

I'll crosslink this thread over there too.

I thought herculiner added a bunch of weight. Not that the rear of your rig minds (makes wheeling easier anyway) But My runner would throw a fit if I added all that extra rhinoliner weight up top...

(My thoughts on 2nd and 3rd gen runner weight up top issues)

I can't see the weight being an issue at all...

When you pick up a gallon of the stuff in the store it weighs like 5-10 pounds and half of that is going to evaporate. It's a lot less weight than a cooler full of drinks and ice...
