A local chain store is having a massive clearance sale and they have some really good deals on subwoofer amp box combos

for instance a 10" Visonik 500wat sub w a mono block ampifiler (no idea what that is) and a tuned box for 79.99.

sound like an okay deal?

They have the same brand sub for sale on its own too.

Any opinions on this brand? I have never heard of it, but if they are of good quality I will go pick one up..

All I can tell you is that it is a good brand. but don't no anything about them.

 

i have heard of visonik before..never heard anything though. 9 times out of 10 those cheap subs sound well..cheap.

if you are looking for an inexpensive sub\amp you might want to look into pioneer or sony.

just my opinion from what I have heard personally.

If you are looking for a SIMPLE way to add a nice but not insane amount of bass to your truck look into an infinity basslink..they sound GREAT, dont cost much, dont take up much space, and are easy to install and take out if you ened the space.

 

One of my good friends used to be a Visonik dealer and this is what i know...

When Visonik first launched it's company roughly around the mid 90's, they were determined to be one of the best and sold nothing but expensive "high-end" car audio. But after a couple of years, they're sells & profit were quickly fading. In an attempt to stay afloat and be a competitor, they began to make lower quality speakers and eventually made partners with companies such as PepBoys, Walmart, liquidation outfits, etc.

Today, they have succeed in being nothing more than mediocre.

In general, they sell cheapo stuff that can/might perform well but has short term reliability. For the money, theres MANY more better options out there!

Visonik is a good brand, but the stuff you see for real cheap can be real interesting, to say it in a nice way. I know a friend of mine who wired up the pepboys visonik dual 10 500 watt sub system in his trunk, and it caught on fire. It could have been his fault because he wired it, but I will never know. So just keep that in mind.....

Now there's some advice you can hang your hat on.

 

if you dont wanna spend alot of money on subs, but do want a little more bass. go with a sony xplod. my friend has 2 12's in the back of his 4runner and the sound is great on the inside. picking up just a 10 with a nice amp shouldnt cost you more then 200.

 

Thanks bud, Buying a sub is really on the bottom of my priorities list right now, I still have other mods I want to do first.

But since it was so cheap I thought there was no harm in asking about the quality

Make your own box and go from there.

Pick up an amp wiring kit - $20

Total cost - $197.22 + some shipping costs

Since these are 4 ohm woofers, you can run them in series and connect them to the amp in the bridged format for 200 watts RMS and use the crossover built into the amp. It will be a very deep and clean sound.

Wait a minute... You have a truck and not a 4Runner, right? Well, you can still do it, just adjust the box you design or make two small ones for each side as long as you are in spec.

No offense osiris, but you need to do some more research before making equipment recommendations like that. Now the building your own box and doing everything else yourself, THAT is a great recommendation!

1. Pyle is just that, a PYLE of isht when compared to the rest of the market. (in my professional opinion)

2. That wiring combination would yeild 8ohms (series two 4ohm svc subs, the impeadance adds) to the amp and he most certainly would not recieve 200 watts. You would get 50 watts for both subs at best.

That system would make noise but it would be far from ideal.

Can one make a decent system using pyle? Yes, however it would sound not nearly as good as an equivalently installed system using better products that can be found for the same price. It would also be far less forgiving of user stupidity....

Id take the JL's if they would fit in my tiny cab and if I didnt have my infinitys already! just go to best buy and pick up a box with a couple of type-Rs run the alpine amp to go with it and you'll have more bass than you know what to do with.

 

blah. type r's. i feel sick already. yea, they make a lot of noise, but i've never liked the sound outa those. personally, ive got one rockford fosgate 10inch punch2 woofer in a q-logic box running off an alpine mono amp, and it makes tons of noise and its great quality. perfect for a cab in a pickup. sure, it doesnt pound out the wayyy low lows the way some others do, but it can hurt your ears if u turn it up enough. lol. i know.
