Just to let everybody know, (I wasn't aware of this problem until a few days ago) there is a valve on the vacuum lines that go from the throttle body to the power steering pump. This is supposed to crank up the idle a bit when the wheels are fully cocked to either side. Well, if this valve goes bad, it will start sucking fluid into the throttle body, causing horrible smoking. Just happened to me. I thought I needed rings untill my buddy n me started pulling everything apart and noticed that the valves were covered in A/T fluid... pretty wierd. Like I said I don't know how common this is but just figured I'd let everyone know its something to look out for.
