i've got a '97 5runner. do they use the same fenders as the tacoma? I'd like to swap in tacome lights & grille. looks pretty close to me.

What the HELL is a 5runner?

no, they do not.

You will have to swap/modify the front core support as well, since the mid-97 and earlier tacos use a sealed beam headlight, while the 4runners use a composite.

Besides that, the rear part of the fenders will have to be modded, as they will not fit flush against the door.

yeah, it's been done before but probably with some modifications.
I wish i would have saved the pictures of one i saw for sale...exterior was black with Total Chaos front suspension, racing bucket seats, fully custom dash, and a few other goodies.
It was sold in AZ or NV. If anyone knows what i'm talking about please locate that taco-runner with some pics.

NOTE: The first 4Runner with a Tacoma front clip I saw was *here on YotaTech* back in summer 2005 ...

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/c...ed-upon-62340/

The photos have disappeared from the YT thread, and I saved only one locally. I've posted this one surviving photo in the CustomTacos thread (cited above) for archival purposes (it exceeds the posted YT attachment limit).

But, I'm glad I followed your link:
