Ok, I am removing my rear end chunk in anticipation of my "new" rear end....

On the top of the chunk there is a cable that is attached to the top of the housing......


How do I get this off???? I removed the bolt that was screwed thru it, but it still won't come off.....

What is this for?

sounds like the e-brake cable but a pic would help

 

I'll go shoot a pic...but I don't think its the ebrake...it goes into the housing....

 

OK, it is the cable with the silver cover on the middle right of the pic...

 

iirc, that should be your 'rear abs' sensor. do a quick search on it and you will find out how to get it out.

Flat head screw driver will pry it out fairly easily.

 

Thats what I thought it was last nite, but it was late, so I will give it another shot when I get home tonight....

Yep, a flat screwdriver and a bit of patience should get it out in one piece. The sensor-to-housing interface is sealed by an o-ring, which is mounted on the body of the sensor itself, and will come out when you remove the sensor.

 

Rear wheel ABS speed sensor. It will come out, but they can break. Twist it and pull. I have had them break also.

 

PB blaster is your friend. I highly recommend it.
