Well I fired up the beast this morning to head to work and she was making like a tick noise, only does it really when I rev. Did it all the way to work, and the way home.. I figured valves, my dad thought so too so we used a screwdriver as a redneck engineered stethoscope .. Sounded more... clanky at #4 I suppose would be the best accurate description, than the rest.



So, what do ya think?

 

have you replaced the timing chain? I am assuming its a 22r or 22re. There have been some on here that have complained of a noise and its the chain hitting the guides.

 

I just recently did a HG replacement, and it's a 22RE. I checked the timing chain and guides and all was good.. I don't believe it's the chain.

 

Could be the valves seeing how you just did a HG. Maybe you didn't get one adjusted just right... I've had to go back in twice since I did my HG. Were you able to hear if was more on the exhaust side or intake side of #4?

I suggest you get a good set of go-no-go feeler gauges, they make it soooo much easier if you decide to re-adjust.
