I did some searching but couldnt find what i was looking for

Id ont even know if this is normal but when driving my 94 4runner ( 3.0 auto 4wd if it matters) with the vent on fresh air and the temp control all the way to cold without the AC on it blows out warm air... Its not hot but its much hotter then what outside... I noticed this when i had the windows up on the freeway for noise turn the air on but it was to cold for AC and to hot for the heater but the air was still heating the inside of the truck...

Not sure if this is normal when I hit the AC button it gets very cold I just cant figure out why without it the air that comes in is hotter then the air outside... any help would be GREAT

(this was all done with it between 70-80 outside if it matters

 

hmm, might just be engine heat thats heating up the air being sucked in.
You wont get very cold air just from setting the thing to cold.

 

Run an expirament....
Whenever you plan on leaving for some destination next, start out before the motor has a chance to fully reach operating temperature and turn the vent on. See how it feels then.

 

I have a similar problem, but I think it's because someone fixed the cable instead of getting a new one.

Anyway I dont know if this is the same as on my 93, but on the passenger side on the left you can see a few cables enter into behind the console, just wiggle the heat control and feel wich cable moves. My heater cable goes into a ring and there is a guard or something on the cable, the lip of the guard thing gets hooked on the ring and doesent let my heater close the heat all the way. I just gotta help that lip get over.

You can also check and make sure the the valve in the heater hose mounted on the firewall is closing completely. Those things will rust up and get sticky.

 

For now, the cheapest fix that I can tell you is to crack a window.

Its not your vehicle nor 4runners in general that experience this proplem. All vehicles do. The air you feel when you stick your arm out the window is unobstructed clean air. The air you get coming through your vent is air that has passed through your engine bay. It is going to be warmer for that reason. Unless it is hot air, there is nothing wrong with your cable for your temperature setting. If that was the case, you would experience the same problem when you turned the air on.
