Been using Fram for the longest, never had a problem. I've read so many times on this forum that they suck.
I changed my oil today, and I bought a Toyota oil filter. Seeing that I work for Lexus I can get a Toyota filter for the same price as the Fram one. So I think I'll be using Toyota filters from now on. When I get paid Thursday, I'm going to buy a case of them.
Now don't go telling me that Toyota filters are bad.

 

Our local dealership has an actual cut away on the parts counter of the Toy & Fram filters sitting out. The Toy filter sure looks like the one to use to me, and there was just a post here a while ago about how good they are. I'd say good decission.

Yeah, my dad works at the Princeton, IN plant so I can order parts for cheap. I've stocked up on Toyota air 'n oil filters for my truck and my corolla. Definitely the way to go...

the previous owner (who I knew) only used fram in my truck. As soon as I bought it I switched to a yota filter...I was expecting it to be a lot more. I only paid around $5.75ish for the oil filter, Thats not bad considering the frams are like 3-4 dollars.

 

+1. I run K&N filters because they flow extremely well and filter well too.

 

Wait... How much does it cost you to run a Fram vs. a Toyota filter? I can get a Fram from Autozone for like $3, or get a Toyota filter from the dealership for $4. I run the Toyota, 'cause Fram is just bad. Are you guys' dealerships really overcharging so much on the filters?

 

I can get a case of ten Toyota filters for $32.00. The Lexus V6 and 22RE take the same filter

 

I hate to break it to u guys but im not on the toyota filter bandwagon... For one... theres nothing necessearily super special about toyota parts all the time.. yes id rather have a toyota belt then a no name belt but for instance toyota oil isnt anything special... I know many of the dealers around here and they use Esso (exxon) oil. nothing special there... So dont read to much into Toyota in the name folks.

 

I been using supertech found at walmart and made by champ..cant beat that for a buck!

 

napa gold/wix filters are better than both fram AND toyota filters.

Yup! Champion Labs makes the SuperTech. They also make: K&N, mobil 1,STP,Bosch,AutoZone's ValueCraft.

Truth be told I am not sure the quality of the others but have had supertech filters for the past 6 changes and been fine.

Exxon/Mobil also supply walmart supertech oils

Dana - makes Wix and Napa Gold/Silver, AC Delco DuraGuards for Canada

Baldwin (Parent of Hastings) - Baldwin, Hastings, Amsoil, Casite, maybe others

Champion Labs - Mobil 1, K&N, SuperTech, AC Delco DuraGuards (two different types) for USA, Bosch Premium, STP, Ultraguard Gold, Deutch & Luberfiner

Cummins Engine - owns Fleetguard

Mann - a top quality German filter maker (for our many German Friends on this site)

 

I agree with you on this... but as far as fram filters being junk, thats where you loose me. I believe that an oil filter is an oil filter. I am convinced that if the Toyota dealerships sold Toyota brand gasoline for $5.19 a gallon, most of the diehard Toyota people on here would buy it, and would swear by it. Most of the parts and stuff you get at the dealership is just plain overpriced and you can get the same quality, or better parts from a respected autoparts store for a lot less money. And isn't that what it's all about??? $$$$$$

 

Me too. They're cheap and made really well. And they have a great anti-drainback valve in them.

I use the ST16 which is about twice the size of the 3614 with the same thread pitch and gasket. More filtration area equals less resistance to flow and lower pressures at the same flow rate.

 

I have never saw a difference in any oil filter.. It boils down to what makes the owner happy.. I have run a many of Fram filter.. I know BUNCHES of people who run them.. In todays time if they were that bad and ruining engines.. A lawyer somewhere would have a class action suit in progress..

 

I have only ran Toyota and Amsoil oil filters for the several past years.

So far the new rig has only seen a Toyota filter, and probably will for quite a long time.
