84-88 Center console questions

I am putting carpet and bucket seats in my '88 4x2 pickup. I would like to put a center console in it also. I was wondering what different styles there are and what would fit. Anyone have one from an 89-95 in an 84-88 truck? If so, what is required to make it fit? I am hoping to find one that will go all the way from the back to under the stereo to cover the seam in the carpet. Does anyone have pictures of the different styles?

Have a 01-05 Tacoma console in my 87 XtraCab. I had a bench seat originally, so I had to drill some holes in the floor. Not sure if it would bolt up to factory brackets.

I agree, that looks really good. I am going to go the junk yard tomorrow and see what I can find.

That looks very nice. Are those shift boots from the newer Tacoma as well? My boots are shot and I have buckets, so something like that would work well in mine.

I looked at aftermarket consoles and didn't find any that would fit the 88 4R. It seems that the seats are rather close together in the 4R which requires that the console be narrower than most.

Yeah those are the Tacoma shift boots. The 4WD stick is on the other side on the Tacoma, so they don't line up exactly right, but it definitely works well enough. The mount points for the shifter surround are 100% the same, that part bolts in no problem.

I really like the arm rest, because that part has storage, and then it flips up out of the way and there's another storage compartment underneath.

That picture is a little old, actually. I now have some SR5 door panels in there, so the DLX panels and arm rests are up for sale. Clean, no tears.
