Hello, I am looking at a 1988 Toyota Hiace for sale here in Winnipeg. It is a 4dr, 4x4, 2.4l non-turbo diesel truck, right hand drive Japanese import with 160000kms. Is this drivetrain compatible with 4runner?
Now, does anyone know anything about a truck like this? Is the 2.4 diesel a strong engine? Is the Japanese engine and drive train the same or different from North American parts? What North American vehicles is this truck compatible with for drivetrain and body parts? It looks like a Hino truck cab. Is 160km high miles for a 2.4 commercial diesel engine? I have reams and reams of Japanese service reports, does anyone read Japanese? Is the 1988 4x4 strong? Please advise.
