85 pickup 2wd transmission
I recently did a transmission swap on my 85 truck, and the shift linkage was opposite to the original tranny? It bolted up fine, but my question is was it the right transmission? It was a used transmission, and I think I got ripped off by the company I bought it from. It definitely leaks fluid from the rear seal. I'm seriously debating on doing one last swap to something that I know will last me 150k miles.
What's the scoop on the transmission for an 83 Celica? Will it work in my truck without having to fabricate some different shift linkage assembly or anything? I got a buddy who has one only 60k miles old, great condition that will sell it to me for a mere 50 bones. Any help would be appreciated, and if anyone has a good auto tranny out of another truck they want to sell, get with me, and we might have to do a little business.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Manual or automatic?
A 5 speed (W58) from an 83-85 4cyl Celica will bolt up, but it sits 2 inches off so you'll have to trim the shifter hole a couple of inches. I can't remember if it's 2 inches forward or backwards now. It's a stronger transmission than anything offered in a truck and it also has a taller 5th gear (.78 vs. .85) so you'll get better gas mileage on the highway.
