2.71:1 gears! You could cruise all day at like 100mph

With that, I'd finally be able to tow a boat without putting it in 4X4 LOW. I'm in, sign me up.

I heard more like $10k... But that was for a Powerstroke. Maybe the GM is cheaper.

This scares me off. I was excited when the rumors started late last year of a 1/2 Diesel for suburbans, tahoes, pickups, etc. I figured it would be Isuzu based also. WRONG!

"Pickuptruck.com's Mike Levine has learned from GM that despite sharing its name with the older 6.6L Duramax diesel that was developed in partnership with Isuzu, the new 4.5L Duramax was developed completely in-house by GM."

Indeed. The last "in house" diesel GM made was the 6.5LTD. It was a low nickel content block based on the 6.2L that was quite literally pushed to the limits at 220hp/410tq....

Not a 'bad' diesel persay, but not what I'd call a competitor to cummins, etc. It should be interesting to see if they learned anything from their partnership with Isuzu.
