upgrade in amp

just an update on the system im currently running. previously i had a 10in punch phase 2 hooked up to a little dual amp, and i finally got the willpower to upgrade. put me behind in everything else, but i did it anyways. decided to go infinity. got a real nice infinity amp, matched up great, went to switch the wires, it was wacked. didnt work. shoulda worked. didnt. exchanged it for another of the same kind, same problem. didnt work right. wouldnt connect and just sounded like a continuous double pedal bass drum.

exchanged it for an alpine amp, works great, love it. a little overpowered, but im keepin it kinda low for right now.

moral of the story, infinity amps dont like my truck... lol.

and I don't think infinity amps have good amperage or current to produce good quality bass. Same for Kenwood. Just my thoughts. Was that Alpine expensive? I got a Profile 200 watt RMS amp that I will swear by for $150 maybe, from Crutchfield. I had an Orion HCCA-250A before, but it was stolen. This amp replaces that one and although it's no Orion, it is definitely high quality and pushes my 80 ounce magnets Pyles like a scorned mutha.

well, usually the alpine is about 215 or so, but i got it as an open item and pulled off an amazing display bringing it down to 149.79 with tax. i had 21 cents left to my name afterwards. lol. its great so far. it covers the low lows a LOT better than the dual, but i think the dual actually covered a lot more notes. just not as well. and not as loud. and not as well when its loud. ive still gotta reconnect my right side dash speaker, but other than that i love it. cant wait to either get my hands on my dads car when he gets somethin new and turn my truck into a project, or have the money and the will to start buildin custom boxes and mounts for more speakers to hook up in my truck. freakin reg cab. lol. i just stuff junk behind the seat. doesnt have to be pretty, just loud.

do me a favor and get me the dimensions under your seat. How much space is there between the lowest point of the seat and the floor? Do you have the single bench seat or buckets? How much space is there behind your seat at the floor area, 3 or 4 inches?

I want to figure a small box configuration for subs.

Thanks,
Osiris

depends on how far up u want to push the bench. as far as fitting anything bigger than what ive got, i doubt it can happen without cramping up feet space. ive got a q-logic box for my 10, and it fits practically perfect. with the seat leaned back and rolled back as far as it goes with the sub there it holds it in place just right and leaves space for the sub to hit. under the seat wasnt rly an option for me, but i mounted a felt covered board and screwed the amp into that. so far its worked great. as far as space on the floor, i think its between 4-6. seems like about 5 to me.

that help any?

How much space between the seat and the floor. From the bottom of the seat to the floor, and the width from the side to the 'hump' and how long from front to back.

I want to find out an economical box/sub configuration for those tight cabs.

I was thinking of a box that sits under the seat, but extends to the rear section with the port facing up behind the seat. So the woofer hits directly at your seat and the port moves air behind your seat up over your head and bounces off the roof. If the dems are adequate, then the bass pressure will be immense and you'll have accuracy in the sound quality because it will use 10" subs. Not to mention bass punch right in your @$$!

as of right now its sitting behind the pass seat facing the seat. its an enclosed box though. i kinda like the enclosed boxes better because it sounds hard and more solid. port may be louder and whatnot, but i think enclosed is better.

i dont have anything to measure with, and id have to clean it all out too. ive got a bunch of stuff sittin back there right now. bunch of tools, old amp, bottle jack, yada yada yada. i will try to get those measurments at some time soon though.
