HELP! truck sputters under acceleration, and check engine light

the truck sputter real bad while accelerating fast!!!! if you gradually accelerate it doesn't really cut out but the truck starts shaking real bad!!! what do u think i t could be? i just replaced the fuel filter!!! the truck is a 1998 toyota tacoma 2.7 the truck was also rolled up on to its side about a month ago. i replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs, oil change, and while reving up to 2500 rpm sprayed carb cleaner into the intake.the check engine light also is on and if you hold on the the gas the light will start to blink.

I just had the same problem I had a busted plug, if your check engine light is on than you need to run a diagnostics scan and it will tell you exactly what the problem is.

yeah its my buddys truck so idk about the plugs, he doesnt have alot of money to be guessing around on what is causing the problems. but he had the coil tested and it was ok so what are some other things that would cause #2 to misfire, the plug wires tested good also

Question?

Ditto on the plugs. I would only run Denso or NGK Duel electrodes, Sucks that they are 30K plugs but sure beats misfiring and Knocking....
Good luck and Tell us what you find....

Hey you woulden't have happned to have added "Injector cleaner" after the plugs were intalled?
not sure where I'm going with that, but i'm just curious.

my friend tried a new coil and replaced the plugs with ngk today and it is still missing. he said he ran injector cleaner about once every month or 2. but he is thinking it might be an injector somehow damaged by the rollover. what do you guys think of this?

ROLL OVER?....Now were talking,
Tell me, was the engine still running and for how long after the rollover?
Not sure. Could be a oil starvation issue? The engine will get starved of oil in seconds after a car is flipped. Think of the position of the oil sump, flipped over, oil may not have flowed if the sump position is not in oil. Engine damage can occur quickly
not sure, just a guess?

it was accually just up on its side but im not sure exactly how long it was running on its side and neither does my friend. lets just say one of his ex- friends stole it at a party up in the hills and was drifting around corners in it when he went up a bank and over on the side. by the time my friend knew what had happened they had already gotten his truck back up.

would that cause it to miss horribly? i would think it would cause it to knock or something like that, but i may be wrong, would a compression test or maby a leak down test be something to check?

I'd say bad injector, or O2 sensor, maybe. Does it idle good?
