I am wondering if anyone has or has installed one of these decks in a 3rd gen 4runner. This deck seems to have an oversized faceplate and im not sure if it will fit in a regular toyota din slot without trimming.

It's in my 3rd Gen pickup. There were no problems. The ring around the face won't fit, but leave it off, as well as the sleeve. The ring, I write about, is the two pretty pieces on the sides that you see. They hide the ugly, unfinished look where the face hinges upward to improve the angle that you view the screen at. Don't pay too much, try online shopbots, i.e. www.froogle.com. Mine only set me back $270 at the Post Exchange (PX), I'm military. These are overpriced if you ask me, but the great deal was too good to pass up/55% off sale. Call Crutchfield, they'll tell you how to get it in there. I tried an install bracket from them to no avail. I returned it and used the stock brackets and spent a dozen hours or so getting it just right with a blank piece underneath it to fill the gap in my double din. If you take your time, then most anything should fit.
