OK here is the problem, My truck doesnt start, I turn the key and get nothing, I have plenty of battery power so no problem there. it sounds as if I am not gettig any power to the starter. I have checked the fuses and all ok. when the problem started I got in and tunred the key to get nothing, I turned the key several more time and it started once, I shut down poped hood and it spelled like burnt plastic. I have not got it to start since on even try to turn over.
Any help would be apprecieted as this truck is now killin my wallet.

take out the starter and have it tested at one of the chain auto parts stores
also test the starter relay .

Seems like your starter contact points are wearing out. You can replace them yourself and it is not that hard.

would the contact points cause the smell of burning plastic? Check all your cables, there might be a short or bad connection somewhere

Check the starter relay, In the fuse box next to the battery, You can swap it with one that looks just like it from the fuse box inside kick panel.
Dont swap it with the EFI relay or you just wasting your time.

checking the relay tonight

I know its not the starter conatcts as I have run into that problem before and simply swapped them out, plus when they went bad the starter would click and not turn and after several turns of the key it would turn over. My problem is it has no juice to it at all so no clicking noise and no attempt to even turn over. Starter relay, I have never changed that out in my Toyota's in the past and it sounds like a good place to start. Now if I can only tell which is the relay..
Thanks for all the advise. My wallet really appreciates it.

When you turn the key does the relay in the engine compartment click at all?

neutral safety switch

Ok i found that I have power to the starter just not getting power to engage. I have checked th eignition and all is good there, I bypassed the neutral safety switch and it starts. So now I am looking for a neutral safety switch which th edealer has at over 200.00. Anyone know where I may find one of these a little cheaper?

Yo,
If its an automatic, try adjusting the switch. There's info on the internet about doing the adjustment. Probably your shift linkage is getting worn and not making the switch. You may find a switch on Ebay.
